Jean Kaffer


Jean Kaffer, 68, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 8:35 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 at her home.
She was born August 21, 1947 in Avon, Illinois the daughter of Cecil and Marjorie Luper Curtis. She first married Marvin Pestle in 1964 and later married Walter Kaffer in 1970.
She is survived by her son, Curtis (Danuza) Kaffer of San Diego, California; her daughter, Marcia Mason of Galesburg; a grandson, Michael Mason; a great granddaughter, Aubrey Mason; three cousins, Don, Dan and Steve Luper; and her best friend, Waneta Asbury.
Jean worked as a receptionist for St. Mary’s Square for several years. She was a volunteer for Cottage Hospital. She enjoyed reading and shopping. Jean was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Cremation will be accorded. Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. There will be no visitation. Scattering of her cremated remains will be in East Linwood Cemetery Scattering Gardens. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
