Marilyn F. Presley

 Marilyn F. Presley, age 77 of rural Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 8:52 a.m. Wednesday

September 14, 2016 at her home. She was born November 9, 1938 in LaHarpe, the daughter of David Lee and Myrtle Catherine Shutwell Fife. On June 5, 1957, she married Herbert E. Johnson in Blandinsville, IL. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1983. On June 17, 1989, she married Carl D. Presley in Abingdon, IL.

Mrs. Presley attended Fountain Green, Illinois Grade School and graduated from LaHarpe High School in 1957. She then attended Carl Sandburg College. She was employed at Maytag in Galesburg for 18 years, retiring in 1998. She also worked for Dekalb Company in Monmouth for 3 years She enjoyed hunting, fishing, rock collecting, traveling, gardening and raising flowers. She was a member of the East Galesburg Community Chapel.

Survivors include her husband, Carl, one son, Larry (Linda) Johnson of Monmouth, IL, two daughters, Sandra (Larry) Waddell and Janette Curtis, both of Monmouth, six, stepchildren, several grandchildren and step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren, and two sisters, Margaret (Lyle) Oliver of Cantrall, IL, and Norma Jean (Tucker) Heckenkamp of Quincy, IL. She was preceded in death by her first husband, parents and one sister, Carolyn Hasten. And one brother in law, Lyle Oliver.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday September 17, 2016 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, with Rev. Milton Marquith officiating. Burial will follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Visitation is from 1:00 p.m. Saturday until time of services at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the East Galesburg Community Chapel.
