William F. Strohmaier, 76, of Oquawka, IL, passed away Monday, September
12, 2016 at Roseville Rehab and Health Care in Roseville, IL.
He
was born on December 6, 1939 in Yates City, IL, the son of Frank and
Frances (Gerace) Strohmaier. He was raised and educated in Yates City,
and graduated from Yates City High School in 1957.
Bill married Lee (Link) Wilkins on December 3, 1966 in Galesburg, IL. She preceded him in death on September 28, 2012.
Bill
worked at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg as a welder. He later
worked at S & S Distributors as a driver. Most recently, he worked
at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, IA as an inspector.
Bill loved to go fishing, hunting, and golfing, he was a true
outdoorsman. He was a member of the Oquawka Eagles Club, and the Oquawka
Masonic Lodge # 123.
Surviving Bill are his children; Karren
Whited of Virginia Beach, VA, Cheryl (Mike) Fergusson of Galesburg, IL,
Sharon Wilkins of Galesburg, IL, Linda (Dale) Steward of Alpha, IL,
Brenda (Fred) Stewart of Oquawka, IL, Bruce (Brenda) Strohmaier of
Tyner, KY, Pam Lytle of Knoxville, IL, Lori (Roger) Eklund of Knoxville,
IL, and Matt Wilkins of Alpha, IL. Also surviving is daughter-in-law
Lisa (Wilkins) Hainline of Roseville, IL; sister, Fran Nott of Florida,
and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Bill
was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Wilkins; daughter,
Cheryl Jones; son-in-law Jay Lytle; and granddaughter, Carissa Simmons.
Cremation
rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m.,
Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Oquawka Cemetery, Oquawka, IL. Memorials
can be made to the Bill Strohmaier Memorial Fund. McGuire & Davies
Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
