Ettajane Pullen

Ettajane Pullen, 84, of Monmouth, IL died at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg.

She was born November 21, 1931 in Tuscola, IL, the daughter of John and Minnie Dell (Ritchey) Jones. She was raised and educated in Arcola, IL where she graduated from Arcola High School in 1949. Ettajane graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1953 with a Teaching Degree and later earned a Master’s Degree of Education from Western Illinois University in 1982.

Ettajane first taught in Farmer City before teaching Army families in Panama. She raised her family at home for a period of time before returning to teach special reading at Harding School in Monmouth before retiring in 1997.

She volunteered at Teddy Bear Child Development Center and Preschool in Monmouth. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her dogs, and gardening.

Survivors include her children, Gary (Denise) Pullen of Monmouth and Michelle Pullen of Rock Island, IL; her grandchildren, Catrina Pullen and Drew Pullen both of Monmouth and Whitney Pullen (Seth) Eberhardt of Mediapolis, IA; 3 great grandchildren; nephews, David (Rosie) Breedlove of Arthur, IL and Richard Breedlove of Arcola, IL; special friends, Hazel Murphy of Monmouth and Tiera Stone of Galesburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 1 infant brother.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Memorials may be given to Teddy Bear Child Development Center and Preschool or Western Illinois Animal Rescue.
