Floyd E. “Hot Dog”
Shinn, 86, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:04 am Friday, October
21, 2016 at his home.
He was born October 24,
1929 in Herman, Illinois the son of Charles and Myrtle M. Barton. He
married Lelia Asbury on March 8, 1952 in Galesburg. She preceded him
in death on April 4, 2012.
He is survived by his two
sons, Don Shinn and Chuck (Kris Busch) Shinn both of Galesburg; his
daughter, Nancy (Dale) Johnson of Galesburg; ten grandchildren,
sixteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He is
preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Gene Shinn, one
daughter, Patty Lamb, his brother, Ralph Shinn and his sister,
Eleanor Henderson.
Floyd served in the US
Army during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Floyd worked for Maytag
Corporation for 27 ½ years. He was a former member of the Horsheshoe
Club. He was an avid Cub fan and enjoyed golfing.
Funeral Services are
scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. David Scholl will officiate.
Visitation will be 12 Noon-1:00 pm Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will
be in East Linwood Cemetery with military honors by VFW 2257/Legion
285 Veterans Honors Guard. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg
