Tommy Dale Stanley, 89 of Galesburg, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016, at the Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Galesburg.
He was born April 13, 1927, the son of Benton “Ben” and Lola Russell Stanley.
Dale is survived by one daughter, Shawnlea (John) Ballard of Missouri; one son, John Dale (Angie) Stanley of Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty (Hugh) Barnes of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, one being his twin.
He spent most of his life in the Knoxville area where he attended Carl Sandburg College and studied nursing. He worked as a nurse at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg and later in Physical Therapy at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. He returned to Galesburg in 2010. He enjoyed reading and when his curiosity got the best of him on something, he would study it until he got the answers he wanted to know. He was a licensed graphoanalyst. His priority was reading the Bible. He was baptized a Jehovah’s Witness and he was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Galesburg.
Cremation was accorded. Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, 201 N. Linwood Road, in Galesburg. Elder Jeremy Myers will conduct the service. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
