David Goodman Sr.

David Goodman Sr., 66, of Galesburg, died at 11:49 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at Marigold Health Care Center.

He was born November 15, 1949, in Galesburg, the son of Lindell E. and Ruth M. (Paige) Goodman. He married Cheryl Gillespie in September 1983 in Peoria, Illinois.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth M. Goodman of Galesburg; his wife, Cheryl of Inglewood, California; three daughters, Monica (Kerrye) of Arlington, Texas, Monei of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Deajah of Los Angeles, California; six sons, David Jr. of Galesburg, Toby (Valerie) of Lancaster, Texas, Doby and Allan of Los Angeles, and Seth and Brett of Peoria; four brothers, Lindell (Shirley), Claude (Linda), Frank (Inger), and Dennis (Gwen) Bowers; four sisters, Mary, Linda (Jayson), Cynthia (Greg), and Gladys; a sister-in-law, Michelle (Joseph); uncle Alfonso and aunt Patricia; cousin/best friend, Jackie Kimbrough; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Lindell Goodman and brother, Joseph Goodman.

David was raised in Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church. He graduated from Galesburg High School and went on to attend Bradley University in Peoria. His work history includes several years at Prudential Insurance Company in Los Angeles, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, and United Facilities.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Tyson Parks will officiate. There will be no visitation. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
