Wilma Mae Hallbick

Wilma Mae Hallbick, 87 of Abingdon, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
  She was born on April 22, 1929 in Bishop Hill, the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy Ostrom Florine.  Although she was an only child, she grew up in Bishop Hill with cousins Janice Florine Butler and Dorothy FlorinePeterson.  The Florine family lived in Bishop Hill for almost 150 years.  She graduated from Galva High School and worked at the Galva Creamery and Admiral & Burlington Truck Lines in Galesburg.  On October 7, 1961 she married Farrell M. Hallbick at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Galesburg and they moved to a farm west of Abingdon, where she was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.  Farrell preceded her in death September 23, 2004.
  Wilma is survived by two daughters, Patricia Hallbick of Webster, Texas and Annette (and John) Hough of Clinton, Tennessee; nieces and nephews; her cousin Dorothy Peterson; her special caregiver for the past nine years, Helen Medina and her special friends, Cathy Edmiston and Pat Green.
  She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon.  She enjoyed collecting Abingdon Pottery and was a member and officer of the Abingdon Pottery Club.  She also collected dolls.  Her other hobbies included quilting, crocheting, reading and refinishing furniture.
  Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. William T. Miller I.C. officiating.  Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with praying of the rosary at 6:30 p.m.
