Florence “Flo” O.
Fosburg, 92, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 8:08 pm Thursday, January
19, 2017 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born April 7, 1924
in Galesburg the daughter of Alvin A. and Ellen O. Halstead Olson.
She married Carl Hendricks on March 1, 1947 in Wataga, Illinois. He
preceded her in death on September 1, 1981. She later married Eugene
“Gene” Fosburg on March 30, 1985 in Galesburg. He preceded her in
death on September 23, 2013.
Florence is survived by
her two sons, Stanley K. Hendricks of Riverside, Missouri and Philip
Hendricks of Galesburg; her daughter, Barbara (Steve) Singer of New
Canaan, Connecticut and two grandsons, Steven and James and many
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her
husbands, her six brothers, Lawrence, Erland, Floyd, Dale, Paul and
Charles and her three sisters, Anita, Marie and Elaine.
Florence graduated from
Wataga High School in 1942 and had attended University of Illinois
for two years. She first worked for First National Bank then was a
homemaker for many years. She returned to work for School District
205 as a secretary for 18 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member
of Trinity Lutheran Church. After retirement she and her husband
traveled every year for anniversaries and her husband’s WW2 army
reunions. She enjoyed gardening.
Funeral Services are
scheduled for 11:30 am Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Frank Langholf will
officiate. Visitation will be 10:00-11:30 am Tuesday at the chapel.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to
the Trinity Lutheran Church or Knox County Humane Society. Online
