Howard Payne Mower, 73,
of Galesburg, Illinois died at 3:00 pm Sunday, January 29, 2017 in
Marigold Nursing Home.
He was born August 11,
1943 in rural McDonough County, Illinois the son of Howard E. and
Mary Payne Mower. He married Susan Elam.
Howard is survived by his
children, Mark P. Mower of Franklin, North Carolina and Amy Mower
(Luther Brookshire) Thedy of Otto, North Carolina; his sister, Ellen
Mower Spittell (John) of Galesburg; two grandchildren, Tyler B. Rentz
and Amy Kathleen (Max) Newman and two great grandchildren, Sean and
Claire Newman all of Conyers, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his
parents.
Howard served in the US
Army Reserves.
He was a salesman, buyer,
warehouse manager and was a partner at Distillers and Brewers Sales.
He loved to farm and had a variety of animals, zebras, llamas,
buffalos and horses. Howard was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic
Church. He graduated from Corpus Christi Catholic School in 1961 and
St. Ambrose College in 1965. Howard had a great sense of humor and
had a great interest in Native American Indians.
Funeral Mass is scheduled
for 10:00 am Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Corpus Christi Catholic
Church. Rev. William Miller will officiate. Visitation will be
4:00-6:00 pm Tuesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
Prayers will be at 6:00pm Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in
St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Galesburg Public
