Jane M. Cochran

Jane M. Cochran, 95, of Monmouth and formerly of Kirkwood, IL passed away at 3:15 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg, IL

She was born on April 7, 1921 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Charles and Edith (Johnson) Menely. Jane was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1939. She attended Monmouth College and later Moser Business College in Chicago.

Jane married C.W. “Bill” Cochran on August 10, 1946 in Monmouth; he preceded her in death on March 9, 1981.

Jane first worked at the 1^st National Bank in Monmouth as a teller; she later was a secretary at Kirkwood Elementary School, Kirkwood Veterinary Clinic, and the Kirkwood United Methodist Church. She also served as the Tompkins Township Supervisor. Jane was active in the Kirkwood United Methodist Church and served on several church committees. She was a member of the Chapter T P.E.O. and Order of the Eastern Star. Jane enjoyed sewing, reading, and was a member of the “Go Go Girls”.

Surviving Jane are her daughters; Jan Johnson of Easton, PA, Cathy (Don) Daily of Monmouth, Karen (Barry) Logan of Metamora, IL, her grandchildren; Jason Logan of Spring Bay, IL, Georgia (Joel) McMillan of Okinawa, Japan, Brent Daily & Lindsey of Springfield, IL, Chris (Amber) Daily of Kansas City, MO, Marika Johnson of Atlanta, GA., and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers; Bob Menely, Harold Menely, and Bill Menely.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 3, 2017 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory. A private family interment will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Kirkwood, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth.
