Jennifer Jane Greenlief

Jennifer Jane Greenlief, 48 of Elgin and formerly of Avon, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at her home in Elgin.
She was born November 10, 1968 in Galesburg, the daughter of Gary C. and Janet E. Ryan Greenlief, Sr.
Jennifer is survived by her parents, Gary and Janet Greenlief, Sr. of rural Avon; one sister, Carrie (Bob) Bledsoe of Galesburg; two brothers, G. Calvin (Katryna) Greenlief, Jr. of Vermont and Wayne (Martha) Greenlief of Berwick. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Jennifer graduated from Avon High School in 1986. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science and Nursing Degree with a Minor in Fine Arts. In 1997 she received her Master Degree in Science and Nursing from Troy State University in Troy, Alabama. She was a Registered Nurse and currently worked for Advocate Health Care Systems in Downers Grove. Her love of nursing took her to many places.
She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church. Her hobbies included photography and traveling. She had a passion for the band STYX and traveled all over the United States and even overseas to see the band perform. She attended Music Fest in Wisconsin every year. She crocheted hats and mittens for underprivileged children. She lived life to the fullest and she was very comfortable with her own body. She had a good sense of humor and her favorite holiday was Halloween.
Jennifer was an ovarian cancer survivor. She was a member of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Abingdon Christian Church, 409 S. Main St. in Abingdon. Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the church. Rev. Darryl McDaniel will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the Abingdon Cemetery. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
