Eva “Ernie” Drain

Eva “Ernie” Drain, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois died 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg. 

 

Eva was born January 3, 1931 in Carthage, Ill., the daughter of Elma Mahe and Eva Malone Mahe.  She later married Robert Drain on September 19, 1978 in Plainview, Ill.  He preceded her in death in September of 1997.

 

She is survived by a son, Arla (and Debra) Newland of Galesburg; a daughter, Marilyn Cook of Galesburg; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a half sister.

 

Eva was raised in Carthage but moved many times, living in Iowa, Illinois and 15 years in Arkansas.  She moved to Galesburg in 1997.  She worked as a laborer for Motorola, Winegard and Timex. 

 

Eva was a member of the Emmanuel Methodist Church in Galesburg.  She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary in Winslow, Ariz. 

 

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Rev. James Ecklund will officiate.  Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel.  Private entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum, Burlington, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation .  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
