Juan Manuel Davila, 69, of
Galesburg, Illinois died 6:25 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Unity
Point Methodist Hospital, Peoria, Illinois.
He was born February 5,
1948 in Rio Hondo, Texas, to Lucio and Maria A. Sanchez Davila. He
married Eulalia “Margo” Lopez June 20, 1970, in Galesburg.
Surviving is his loving
wife of 47 years, Margo Davila of Galesburg, his son, John (and
Rebecca) Davila of Plainfield, Illinois, his daughter, Maria (and
Omar) Perez of Romeoville, Illinois, five grandchildren, Alejandro
Perez, Isamar Perez, Zahlia Perez, Mateo Davila and Isabella Davila,
two brothers, Lucio Javier Davila Sanchez of Mexico, Lucio (and
Kathy) Davila Jr. of Glenn Ellyn, Illinois, and two sisters, Josefa
(and Rodrigo) Davila Sanchez of Mexico and Susana (and Carlos) Davila
Rodriguez of Mexico. He had several nieces and nephews and
godchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Juan worked at Galesburg
Malleable, Outboard Marine Corporation-Gale Products Division, Blaine
Gorham Carpet, Aluminum Castings and Maytag Company, all in
Galesburg, until his retirement in 2004. He then worked for Heat and
Control, Galesburg Toyota Dealership and Jim Broadfield Lawn Care
Service. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in
Galesburg, a member of the “Green Busters” golf league at Bunker
Links Golf Course and a member of the Hispanic Latino Resource Group
(HLRG). He was a radio announcer for “La Hora Latina,” 90.7 FM
and was a part of the DJ team, “Tex-Mex.” His passions included
golf, music, dancing, cooking and baseball. As a last gift to life,
he was a donor to the Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network.
Juan deeply loved his family and cherished spending time with his
grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00
a.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church,
Galesburg. Rev. William Miller will officiate. Burial will be in
St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg. Praying of Chaplet of Divine
Mercy will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will follow from
6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials may be made to St.
Patrick’s Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Research
Hospital, or The HLRG Scholarship Fund. Online condolences may be
