Mary
M. Carson, 89, of Knoxville, formerly of Galesburg, died at 12:25
p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 in the Knox County Nursing Home,
Knoxville.
Mary
was born on August 22, 1927 in Chicago. She married William H.
Babcock, Sr. in 1945. She later married Lincoln Carson on June 24,
1953 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death in 1989. Mary worked
at General Mills for 39 years, retiring in 1992. Mary was an active
member of her Catholic church while living in Chicago and later at
Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Galesburg. She loved to
play bingo.
Mary
is survived by three grandsons, Raymond (Beth) Babcock, James
Babcock, and Josh Mulkey all of Galesburg; two granddaughters,
Marybeth Smith of New Windsor and Sheila Ann (Carl) Farris of
Augusta, IL; 10 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
Along with her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her
son, William Henry Babcock, Jr. on September 21, 2016; three sisters,
Helen, Katie, and Annie Anna; one grandson; and one brother.
Visitation
will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Watson-Thomas Funeral
Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m.
Friday, March 17, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Calumet City,
IL. Memorials may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic
