Roger W. Albert

Roger W. Albert, age 62, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 7:15 AM on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at his Monmouth residence. Roger was born on November 18, 1954 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Giles and Gladys (Bogener) Albert. Roger attended school in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School with the Class of 1972. On October 11, 1974, he married Carolyn A. Lawson in Monmouth and she is surviving. Roger began his electrical career working for "Corky" Evans at C & D Electric. He then worked for Farmers Mutual in Geneseo, IL as a lineman before moving back to Monmouth and working for Illinois Power/Ameren until his retirement in 2014. Roger also worked part-time at Tinkham Electric here in Monmouth. He was a member of BEWI Local #51. Roger enjoyed hunting in Wyoming and NASCAR. He was an avid Chicago Bears Fan. Roger is survived by his wife Carolyn, his mother, Gladys Albert of Monmouth, IL, his sister, Brenda (Brian) Jenkins of Monmouth, IL, mother-in-law Alice Lawson of Monmouth, IL, three brothers-in-law; Aaron (Margaret) Lawson of Greenback, TN, David (Richard) Lawson of Palm Spring, CA, and Thom (Mary) Lawson of Macomb, IL. Also surviving are three nieces; Lindsay (Jeff) Frantz of Blue Grass, IA, Jessi (Cody) Jenkins of Kirkwood, IL, Amy (Adam) Killey of Sandwich, IL, and five nephews; Doug (Megan) Thornton of Roseville, IL, Ryan (Micki) Wakefield of Blue Grass, IA, Scott (Sarah) Lawson of Macomb, IL, Adam Lawson and Mitch Lawson both of Indianapolis, IN, and numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by father Giles, father-in-law Ronald "Chub" Lawson, paternal and maternal grandparents, and one brother, Rex Albert.
A funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. His family plans to receive friends at a visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Monmouth Cemetery. Memorial funds are being established for the Illinois Cancer Care Center in Galesburg, IL or the local V.F.W.
