David Henry Stamm

David Henry Stamm, 76, of Miami, Florida and Weaverville, North Carolina died Friday, March 31, 2017 in Galesburg.
 
He was born July 12, 1940 in Michigan to Henry A. and Eleanor J. Kero Stamm.  He married Toni Jones June 10, 1961 in Miami, Florida. 
 
Surviving is his son David Ren (and Kathy) Stamm of Cooper City, Florida, his daughter, Lisa (and Michael) Stamm Buchman of Naples, Florida, three grandchildren, Tyler Stamm, Savannah Stamm and Hunter Stamm and a special friend, Vera Simm.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dr. Howard Stamm.
 
Dave was a public school teacher in Dade County, Florida for 49 years and retired in 2012.  He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1958 and played football for G.H.S. during the 1957 undefeated football season.  He received his bachelor degree from Anderson College, Anderson, Indiana.  He received his master’s degree from NOVA Southeastern University in Miami and advanced his studies at the University of Miami.  Dave was an avid athlete, playing tennis four to five times a week.  He was a tennis pro for Courts of Lazarus Pines in Miami for five years.  He was a member of Royal Palm Tennis Club, Miami and Asheville Tennis Club, Asheville, North Carolina.  He was a long time member of Kendall Church of God, Miami, Florida where he served as choir director and sang in the choir for many years.  He enjoyed snow skiing with the family and his grandchildren’s sporting events. 
 
Memorial service will be 12 Noon, Monday, April 3, 2017 at First Church of God, Galesburg.  Rev. Dennis McQuown will officiate.  The family will greet friends following the service at the church.  David requested cremation.  Memorials may be made to the First church of God.  Hinchlifff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel is handling arrangements for the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
