Doris M. Hunter, 97, of Roseville, IL passed away Saturday
April 8, 2017, 4:43 p.m. at the Care Center of Abingdon, Abingdon, IL. She was born Monday March 15, 1920, in Youngstown,
IL the daughter of Charles Gerald and Fern Atta (Adams) Dean. She married Willard Hunter on June 26, 1942
in Ft. Lewis, Washington. He preceded
her on October 20, 1996.
Those left to cherish her memory are Children Larry Cyndy
Colletti Hunter, Jimmy Hunter (Judy Johnson), Connie (Roger) Corbin all of
Roseville, IL; grandchildren Jason (Michelle) Hunter, Nick (Becca) Hunter, Chad
Hunter, Sara (Joe) Huston, Jenny (Jim) Hood, Jessie Corbin, Bethany Corbin
(Nick Leary); several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews;
siblings LaReta Brooks of Peoria, IL, Selma (Larry) Bradford of Good Hope, IL,
Gerald (Dorothy) Dean of Industry, IL and one sister-in-law Wanda Hunter of
Abingdon, IL. She was preceded in death
by her parents, husband, 2 sisters (Emma McDonald & Betty Din).
Doris
was very active in the Walnut Grove United Methodist
Church. She baked pies for many
activities. She loved to garden which was
probably close to an acre, and was known for her clean flower beds. She
and Willard farmed for many years. She had over 50 colors of iris and
she was
always gracious to share a start. She
was involved in raising all of her grandchildren, she loved being called
Grammy, and she was very proud of all of them.
She was an excellent cook and everyone knew her fried chicken. She
raised chickens from the time she was a
little girl until she was 92.
Funeral service will be Wednesday April 12, 2017 at 10:30
a.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday evening April 11,
2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Roseville Township
Cemetery Roseville, IL. Memorials may be
