Raymond
H. Dowd, 63, of Galesburg, died at 11:28 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017
in Galesburg.
Raymond
was born on August 29, 1953 in Galesburg, the son of William and
Bernice S. Cofield Dowd, Jr. Raymond is survived by two sons,
Terrance T. Dowd of Las Crucas, NM and William H. Dowd of Key West,
FL; one brother, Ed (Hannelore) Dowd of Oskaloosa, IA; and 11
grandchildren. He is also survived by longtime friend Cynthia
Deffebaugh of East Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his
parents.
Raymond
worked at Butler Mfg. for several years. He was also a very talented
auto mechanic and taught small engine repair through Carl Sandburg
College at Henry C. Hill Correctional Center for over 8 years.
Raymond also worked at KCCDD for several years.
Raymond
loved his dogs, especially Boo, and was an obedience trainer for
German Shepherds for many years. He loved maintaining his cars in
showroom quality. He also enjoyed rock hunting and making jewelry.
He currently was a storm tracker. Raymond was also a survivalist and
primitive camper. He loved watching NASCAR.
Visitation
will be 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Watson-Thomas Funeral
Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will follow at 3
p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Harold Boyd will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded following funeral services. Online
