Rollie
E. Hanson, age 79, of Rural Gilson, Illinois died at 10:38 A.M. on
Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at his home in rural Gilson, Illinois.
Rollie
was born on March 19, 1938 in Knox County, Illinois the son of Lyle
and Elouise Potter Hanson. He attended and graduated from Knoxville
High School. He married Cherry C. Buck on March 15, 1974 in
Knoxville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2016.
Surviving
is a daughter: Becky (Doug) McBride of Rural Gilson, Illinois; one
son and one step-daughter; ten grandchildren, seventeen great
grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter; one brother, Dick
(Sandy) Hanson of Phoenix and several nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents, wife and one daughter, Penny
Johnson.
He
started working as a Police Officer for the City of Knoxville, before
working for Gates Rubber Company in 1962. He retired in 2000 from the
Maintenance Department.
He
was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Illinois, the
former Knoxville Jaycees, and served in the United States National
Guard. He lived a peaceful and quiet life, he loved his wife, Cherry,
being with family and enjoying a drink with his friends. He enjoyed
doing welding and carpentry projects in his workshop for family and
friends.
As
per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no
services. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Guardian Angels.
