Zelda R. Presswood, 89, of
Monmouth, IL, passed away at 11:30 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Monmouth
Nursing Home, Monmouth.
She was born on November 18, 1927
in Pinckneyville, IL, the daughter of Chalen and Anna (Eldridge) Hays. Married
at an early age to Earl Williams and had two sons by this marriage, Tom (Teri)
Williams and John (Bonnie) Williams. As
in life things do not always work out as planned and later on they later
divorced. She married Virgil R. Presswood on June 24, 1961 in Pinckneyville, IL
and he passed away March 15, 2015.
Virgil has two sons when the two entered marriage, Ken (Sue) Presswood
and Stan (Marsha) Presswood and together this couple had two more children
together, Monita (Presswood) Davies and Greg Presswood. Zelda is also survived by two sisters Wondola
(Kenneth) Hall and Laura (Frank) Weatherford, all of her children and numerous
grandchildren and great grandchildren and her very close friends and personal
angel, Amy and Craig Tabb. She was
preceded in death by her three brothers, three sisters, and her parents.
Zelda started her career in the
garment factories at an early age. She
first worked in Pinckneyville, and later on in Monmouth at Smolers/Formfit
until she retired. She enjoyed making
quilts, and sewing her entire life.
After she retired she became a very avid at jigsaw puzzles and collecting
hundreds of swans of all shaped and sizes, playing cards and dice games with
her sister. Zelda also enjoyed going to
back yard sales, reading, working in the garden, and never missed a St. Louis
Cardinals game, always cheering for her favorite player, Yadi Molina. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist
Church of Galesburg and believed in and loved her relationship with God. She was sure she would go see all of her
loved ones who had passed, once again in heaven.
