Dorothy L. Hardine, 95, of
Galesburg, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2017 at her home.
She was born August 5,
1921, in Mandan, North Dakota, the daughter of Roy F. and Estella L.
(Wollenburg) Dow.
She was the loving wife of
the late Russell Z. Hardine and devoted mother of Russell S. Hardine,
Kenneth D. (and Maria) Hardine, and Rebecca L. McCoy. Also surviving
are five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister,
Marjorie Shearer. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in
death by her parents; a son, John W. Hardine; and a son-in-law, F.L.
“Mac” McCoy.
Dorothy graduated from
high school in Mandan, North Dakota and attended Dickinson State
Teacher’s College in North Dakota and Hunter College in New York
City.
Dorothy was a United
States Navy veteran, serving in the WAVES during World War II.
Dorothy enjoyed sewing,
baking, arts and crafts, and loved dancing to the sounds of the Big
Band music of the 1930s and ‘40s.
Private family graveside
service is planned. Eleanor Landon will officiate. There will be no
visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made
to the FISH Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1922, Galesburg, IL 61402.
