Edward Phillips, 73, of Galesburg, died at 12:40 a.m. Thursday, May
25, 2017 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Ed
was born June 23, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, the son of George Ray and
Teddie Marie Reynolds Phillips. He is survived by one son, Michael
(Tammy) Phillips of Wataga; one brother, Don R. (Carol) Phillips of
Sherman; three grandchildren, Brandon (Beth), Brianna, and Bailey
Phillips; two great grandchildren, Emma and Rylan; as well as his
beloved dog, Ada Mae. Ed is also survived by two nephews, John C.
and Andy L. Phillips. Along with his parents, Ed was preceded in
death by one son Jeff on September 10, 2015.
Ed
was an electrician for I.B.E.W. for over 50 years. He was a member
of I.B.E.W. Local #34 and the Galesburg Archery Club. He also served
as the troop leader for Boy Scout Troop #204 for many years. Ed was
an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing, and riding his
motorcycle. He was an extremely skilled woodworker and enjoyed
repairing antiques.
Visitation
will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Watson-Thomas Funeral
Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will be Wednesday,
May 31, 2017 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
Pastor Tom Ek will officiate. Burial will follow in East Linwood
Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made in Ed’s
memory to the Guardian Angel’s Humane Society or to Boy Scout Troop
