Sandra K. Fowler, 64, of
Galesburg, died at 2:18 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at home with her
family.
She was born March 10,
1953, in Monmouth, the daughter of Martin I. and Mary M. (Bycroft)
Stephenson. She married Bruce H. Fowler on July 6, 1974, in Alexis.
She is survived by her
husband of nearly 43 years, Bruce; a daughter, Amy (Fowler) Lamm and
her husband, Brian, of Freeport; a son, Tim Fowler of Peoria; two
grandchildren, Conner and Lauren Lamm; and a brother, Kevin R.
Stephenson and his wife, Debbie, of Canton. She was preceded in
death by her parents.
Sandra has been working
for Holt Supply Company in Galesburg for 42 years. She held a
variety of positions, most recently serving as manager. She
graduated from Alexis High School in 1971 and earned an associate’s
degree from Carl Sandburg College.
Sandra was a long-time
member of the former Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She was
involved with many activities there, most memorably as a Sunday
school teacher. After Emmanuel closed, Sandra and Bruce transferred
membership to First United Methodist Church. Sandra’s church
involvement continued there, where she a member of the Sisters of
Faith, the Sanctuary Choir, the Bell Choir, and worked on various
committees.
Sandra was a 4-H leader
and volunteer for many years. She enjoyed quilting, baking,
gardening, and spending time with her family.
Visitation will be 5 to 7
p.m. Monday, May 29, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist
Church. Pastor Vince Rohn and Pastor Mary Runge will officiate.
Burial will follow in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions
in Sandra’s name may be made to First United Methodist Church or
