Charlotte L. "Charlie" Marston, age 87, formerly of Monmouth, Illinois;
passed away at the home of her son, Matthew in Decatur, IL after a long battle
with Alzheimer's, on Friday, June 16, 2017 at noon. Charlotte was born on
November 3, 1929 in Monmouth and is the daughter of Arthur and Elsie Kleinkopf
Themanson. She was raised and educated in the Monmouth Public Schools and
graduated from Monmouth High School in 1949. Charlotte met and married Vernon L.
Marston Jr. on December 27, 1950. After Vernon's discharge from the army, they
moved to California where they raised their family. She was an active and devout
member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was sealed to her
family for time and eternity in a ceremony at the Los Angeles Temple on January
23, 1965. Charlotte was employed twelve years at Monmouth Nursing Home where she
cared for the Elderly. She also was a clerk Guzardos card shop in Monmouth for 8
1/2 years. She was a devoted wife and mother who sacrificed many times for the
benefit of her family and friends. She was affectionately known as "Charlie" to
all and never said no to anyone in need. She is survived by three sons, Gary Lee
(Pam) Marston of Oquawka, Illinois, Mark (Cheyanne) Marston of Springfield,
Illinois, and Matthew (Jennifer) Marston in Decatur, Illinois. There are 11
grandchildren and many great-grandchildren surviving.
A graveside funeral service and interment will be at Monmouth Cemetery on
Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm. No visitation is being planned by her family.
