Bonnie L. Michael

Bonnie L. Michael, 73 of Abingdon, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Care Center of Abingdon. 
  She was born April 11, 1944 in Salem, Oregon, the daughter of William W. “Bill” and Dorothy A. “Dot” Darby Stohr.  She married H. Dominic Michael in 1990 at the First Lutheran Church in Galesburg.
  Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, H. Dominic Michael; three sons, Shawn Michael of Galesburg, Michael (Maria) Hurst of Peoria, and Nick Michael of Galesburg; 7 grandchildren, Alexis Hurst, Liam Hurst, Elena Hurst, Bennett Hurst, Mitchell Hurst, Elliot Hurst and Morgan Michael; one great grandchild, Wyatt Talley; one brother, Alan “Butch” Stohr of Cedar Falls, Iowa; A special niece and nephew, Tammy Uhlenhopp and Chad Stohr and their families; and two special friends who were like sisters to her, Sharon Shipplett of Abingdon and Lola Stohr of Parkersburg, Iowa.
  She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, William “Bill” T. Hurst.
  Bonnie grew up in the Charles City, Iowa area and graduated from Charles City High School in 1962, where she participated in the marching and concert bands.  She had lived most of her adult life in Abingdon.  She worked as a Pharmacy Tech at the Abingdon Pharmacy for 20 years.  She later worked as a dispatcher for the Abingdon Police Department and then at Maytag in Galesburg for 10 years, retiring in 2006.  She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Galesburg and served on various church committees.  She was a member of the Abingdon Auxiliary Police and an avid supporter of ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
  Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the First Lutheran Church, 364 E. Waters St., in Galesburg.  Rev. Pamela Marolla will officiate.  Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
