Charles K. “Chuck”
Eaves, 80, of Galesburg, died at 5:56 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2017 in
the Knox County Nursing Home.
He was born September 10,
1936, in Galesburg Cottage Hospital, the son of Leslie W. and Lorree
M. (Peterson) Eaves. He married Lynda L. Cannon on November 2, 1960,
in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife
of nearly 57 years, Lynda; two daughters, Pamela (and Kevin) Collins
of Galesburg and Tammy Eaves of Kotzebue, Alaska; four grandchildren,
Tiffanny Powell, Sara Nelson, Heidi Eaves, and Robert A. Fensterer;
six great grandchildren; and a sister, Janice Powers of Pasadena,
California. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Chuck was raised and
educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1954.
In his teens, he secured employment with Benner Tea Company. Over
his 50 plus year career, he continued working for the grocery store
through its changes to Giant Foods and finally Econo Foods. He
worked every aspect of the business except for the meat department.
He served a time as a manager. When he retired, he worked as pricing
coordinator and in receiving.
Chuck was an avid bowler
and golfer. He enjoyed playing with his great grandkids.
He served in the United
States Army Reserves.
Visitation will be 6 to 8
p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg
Chapel. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Oak Lawn Memorial
Gardens with Deacon Michael Crummer officiating. Memorial
contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,
Shriners Hospitals for Children, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
