George A. Hultgren, 84, of
Oquawka, IL died at 11:35 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Heartland Care and
Rehabilitation Center, Galesburg.
George was born February 22, 1933
in Chicago, IL the son of Eugene Arthur and Ebba Alvera (Elmborg)
Hultgren. He was raised and educated in
Burlington, IA.
George served with the United
States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany.
He was in the flooring and carpet
business for over 20 years and the owner of Hultgren House of Carpet in Oquawka
where he sold and installed carpet and flooring.
George loved to sing and play the
guitar his entire life, including performances at the Grand Old Opry in
Nashville before entering into his military service. He also enjoyed gardening,
hunting for Morrell mushrooms and cruising country roads.
Survivors include his daughter,
Joni Alecock of Oquawka, IL, Lori (Jim) Thornton of Chillicothe, IL, Julie John
and Lanie Hultgren both of Oquawka, IL; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren;
his sister, Anita Eads of Rockford, IL and special nephew, Gary Eads of
Stillman Valley, IL.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; one brother, Erland Hultgren and one sister, Phyllis Hultgren.
