Sidney L. Allen

Sidney L. Allen, 81, of Prairie City, IL passed away at 1:25 AM Monday July 17, 2017 at McDonough District Hospital. He was born November 26, 1935 to Roy and Avery (Akers) Allen. He married Jean E. Howerter on August 26, 1977 in Bushnell, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are six children, Cindy (Randy) VanBrooker-Shepler of August, IL; Jerry Allen of Bushnell, IL; Greg (Susan) Allen of Huntley, IL; Teresa (Doug Huls) Statler of Basco, IL; Kevin (Julie) Allen of Forsyth, MO; Tammy (John) McCamant of Bushnell, IL; one step-son Keith (Jody) Douglass of East Galesburg, IL; seven siblings, Sandra Shipman of Dallas City, IL; Earl (Judy) Allen of Plymouth, IL; Larry Allen of Carthage, IL; Linda (Dale) Schamberger of Carthage, IL; Janie Crum of Carthage, IL; Cheryl (Wes) Shoemyer of Clarence, MO; Chris (Ronnie) Totten of Salisbury, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Danny Allen.
After graduating from Plymouth High School Sidney set out on a 50 + year journey working, traveling and making his own path in the trucking industry. Sidney and his wife Jeanie working together owned and operated Allen’s Trucking for 35 years. After retiring from the trucking industry, he enjoyed working part time for Blout Farms.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday July 21, 2017 at the Corman Memorial Home in Avon. Where visitation will be Thursday July 20, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Pastor Jim Eddy will officiate. Cremation Rites will follow services. Burial of ashes will be in Prairie City Cemetery at a later date.
