H. Katherine Morse

H. Katherine Morse, 94, of Knoxville, Illinois formerly of Maquon, Illinois, died at 2:11 A.M. on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born on July 21, 1923 in Rural Maquon, Illinois the daughter of Neal S. and Florence O. Walker Woods. She graduated from Maquon High School in 1941. She married Ralph “Curly” Morse on July 24, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2000.

She is survived by her children: Lonnie C. (Dale) Morse of Morrow, Georgia, Regina K. Shelton of Sun City, Arizona, Marnell M. (Cindy) Morse of Bartlett, Illinois, Thomas (Jeanette) Morse of Elmwood, Illinois, and Colleen A. (Dale) Lehnhausen of London, Mills, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, with two expected in the fall. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, one brother and one grandson, Rich.

She worked for the former Galesburg Research Center as a Psychiatry Tech for twenty-five years and then was a tax preparer for eleven years.

She was a member of the Maquon United Methodist Church, the Maquon United Methodist Church Women, and the Maquon Historical Association. She loved to rug weave, quilting and other craft projects. Most of all she enjoyed her Sunday dinners with her family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Maquon, Illinois, with Rev. Krey Leesman officiating. Interment will be in the Maquon Cemetery, Maquon, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maquon United Methodist Church.
