Richard Douglass Boyd

Richard Douglass Boyd, 77, of Raritan, IL passed away Wednesday August 9, 2017 at Oak Lane Nursing Home Stronghurst, IL.  He was born Sunday January 28, 1940 in Portland, Maine the son of John and Dorothy (Young) Boyd.  He married Jeanette Arnold of Raritan, IL on October 20, 1963, She preceded him on April 1, 2005 after losing her battle to breast cancer.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his children Toni (Kyle) Hendrickson of Raritan, IL, Tim Boyd of Raritan, IL and Tammy (Pete) Westin of Crest Hill, IL; 7 grandchildren: Josiah, Holly, Kylee, Jessica, JoEllen, Eli, and Levi; and 1 great grandson: Maverick.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers (Robert and David Boyd).

 

Mr. Boyd was a photographer in the U.S. Navy for 20 years.  He went on to retire from NTN Bowers in Macomb, IL.  His greatest love was fishing, he tied his own flies.  He also enjoyed woodworking and collecting old jars and crocks.
