Craig L. Ortery, 63 of Burlington, IA, formerly of Monmouth, IL died at 7:28 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the University Hospitals, Iowa City, IA.
He was born August 6, 1951 in Aledo, IL the son of Harry and Pauline (Robbins) Ortery. He was raised and educated in Warren & Henderson Counties, graduating from Union High School in 1969.
Craig served with the United States Navy.
Craig married Shirley Heck on August 20, 1979 in Aledo, IL and she passed away July 14, 2000.
He worked in the meat packing industry, most recently for Farmland Food in Monmouth for several years.
He enjoyed latch hook, Duck Dynasty and walking. He had a great sense of humor and liked to tell jokes.
Survivors include his 3 daughters, Sabrina (Zach) Binx of Burlington, IA, Mindy Ortery of Monmouth and Mandy Ortery of Galesburg; 4 sons, Chris Ortery and Adam Ortery both of Burlington, IA, Anthony (Tammy) Ortery of Texas and Ben Ortery of Roseville, IL; his mother, Pauline Ortery of Monmouth; 3 brothers, Bill Ortery, Bruce Ortery and Doug Ortery; 3 sisters, Pam Strange, Rhonda Bethell and Susie Bethell; 13 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, wife and 2 brothers, Jim Ortery and Brad Ortery.
Memorial services will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. No visitation hours are planned. Cremation has been accorded.
