Phyllis J. Hultgren

Phyllis J. Hultgren, age 80, of Oquawka, Illinois, died at 12:30 pm on Friday, March 20, 2015 at The Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa. 

She was born on August 5, 1934 in Burlington, Iowa and is the daughter of Mary Dixon. Phyllis was raised in Carman, Illinois in Henderson County and attended and graduated from Monmouth High School with the Class of 1952. She was previously married to George Hultgren in November of 1955 in Burlington, Iowa. Phyllis began work at Western Stoneware Company in Monmouth. She has served as Village Clerk in Oquawka, Illinois for many years. She also was employed as secretary for the Law Office of William Nolan in Oquawka, Illinois for many years. Phyllis was last employed as the office Manager at Field and Forrest owned by Willett Wandell in Oquawka, from which she retired.

Phyllis is survived by four daughters, Joni (Mike Ruberg) Alecock of Oquawka, Illinois; Lori (Jim) Thornton of Chillicothe, Illinois; Julie (Mike Meyer) John of Oquawka, Illinois; and Lanie Hultgren of Oquawka, Illinois. She has five grandchildren, Tracie (Tim) O'Brien, Terri John, Ryan and Kelsey Thornton, and Hannah Alecock surviving and Five Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in her death by her mother, her half sister, Daylene Wenzel, and a number of aunts and uncles.

A graveside service and interment will be on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 11:30 am at the Oquawka Cemetery. Pastor Mark Baker will officiate. No visitation or calling hours are currently planned by her family. Arrangements are being planned by the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois.
