Charles F. “Chuck” Talley, 73 of
Monmouth, IL passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015 at his home.
Chuck was born in Monmouth, IL on
May 19, 1941, the son of Ira James and Helen Louise (Parrish) Talley. He was raised and educated in Monmouth,
graduating from Monmouth High School in 1959.
Chuck married Linda L. Staff at
the First Christian Church in Galesburg on July 8, 1962 and she survives.
Chuck was a Monmouth Firefighter
for 20 years. When he retired he went to
work for the City of Monmouth as a Building Official, Zoning Administrator,
Cemetery Sexton, Certified Pluming Inspector and Warren County Inspector. He was employed by the City of Monmouth for
44 years.
He was a lifelong member of the
First Christian Church of Monmouth. Chuck was a 36 year member and four time
Past Master of the Monmouth Masonic Lodge.
He was a member and Past President of the Monmouth Kiwanis Club, Board
Member for Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, Charter Member of the Warren
County Illinois Genealogical Society and Charter Member of the Warren County
Historical Society and Museum. He was a
member of the Warren County Prime Beef Festival and served as the Grand
Marshall in 2012. Chuck was a 26 year
member of the Monmouth/Warren County Auxiliary Police, most of those years as
Captain.
Survivors include his wife; his
daughter, Debra L. (Steve) Tubbs of South Bend, IN; son, Jeffrey C. (Jenny)
Talley of Galesburg; granddaughter, Kameryn D. Talley of New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his
parents.
Memorial services will be 10:30
a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the First Christian Church of Monmouth. No visitation hours are scheduled. Cremation has been accorded with a private
family interment to take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials
may be given to the First Christian Church of Monmouth or St. Jude’s Children’s
