Jason Lee (Jay) Kjellander,
44, of Elgin, Illinois passed away on April 28, 2015 at Loyola University Hospital
in Maywood, Illinois.
He was born in Galesburg on
October 17, 1970, the son of Francis Lee and Gwendolyn Marie Kjellander.
A graduate of Abingdon High
School, he attended Quincy College in Quincy, Illinois, Monmouth College in
Monmouth, Illinois, where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity and
graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois in 1995 with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Gerontology. He was a mortgage
broker for many years, and most currently served as Senior Administrations
Adviser for Colorado Technical University.
Jay is survived by his
parents, Francis and Gwen Kjellander of Leesburg, Florida, his brothers and
sister, Jeffrey (and Nancy) Kjellander of Dekalb, Illinois, Jennifer (and Christopher)
Parks of Poughkeepsie, New York, and Joseph Kjellander of Elgin, Illinois. Jay
is also survived by his nieces, Jenny Kjellander, Nikki (and Tony) Morales,
Allison (and Cindy) Kjellander-Cantu, and Kate Kjellander, grand-nephews Haze,
Knox, and Kruz Morales, grand-niece Gwenyth Browne, and Goddaughter, Hannah
Alcorn.
He played college football
and was an avid sports fan. It was this love of outdoor sports and camping that
Jay acquired an amazing abundance of friends that were near and dear to him.
A Celebration of Life will be
held at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the American Legion Post #381 in
Abingdon, Illinois. Another celebration will be held in Elgin, Illinois at a
later date.
In lieu of flowers, the
family has asked that memorials be made to "4ICU " Loyola University
Hospital, Maywood, Illinois. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is
