Donald L. Schulz

Donald L. Schulz, age 77, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 9:47 am in Galesburg, IL. 

Don was born on November 3, 1937 in Burlington, Iowa and is the son of Albert J. and Gladys V. McKelvey Schulz. He was raised in rural Burlington area where he attended school and he graduated from Sperry High School in Sperry with the class of 1955. Donald also was a member of the Iowa National Guard stationed in Burlington, Iowa for eight years. He was married to Cheryl Sargent on December 26, 1976 in Monmouth, Illinois and she is surviving. Donald was trained as a Lineman, and worked for L. E. Myers Company and later for Miller Construction Company and lastly spent ten years with Illinois Power Company until his retirement in 1995. Don was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and rode Harley Davidson and Honda motorcycles. He rode to, and attended the event at Sturgis on several occasions. He was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fan. He also built and raced Drag Bikes as a hobby. He is survived by his wife Cheryl of Monmouth, IL; two sons, Rick Schulz of Rock Falls, IL and David Schulz in Havana, IL. One granddaughter, Hannah survives in Abingdon, IL and three grandsons, Ryan of Galesburg, Illinois and Brayden and Cadon both in Rock Falls. He is preceded in his death by his parents.
