Lillian L. Markey

Lillian L. Markey, age 102 of Stronghurst, Illinois died at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday June 2, 2015 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. She was born January 26, 1913 in Carman, Illinois, the daughter of Archie and Hettie Gittings Vaughan. On November 17, 1934, she married Neil Vincent Markey in Carthage, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 10,1984.

Mrs. Markey was a homemaker most of her married life. She had worked at the Lomax Canning Factory for many years, and at Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison during World War II. She was a member of the Lomax Christian Church.

Survivors include one sister, Isabelle Brown of Stronghurst and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, Roscoe, Troy, and Carlton Vaughan, and three sisters, her twin, Lucile Pence, Marguerite Howell and Opal Vaughan.

Visitation will be from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. The graveside committal service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday June 5, 2015 in the Carman Cemetery, with Rev. Kendall Hetrick officiating.
