Robert L. “Rozie” Hroziencik

Robert L. “Rozie” Hroziencik, 83, of Galesburg passed away at 7:30 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.

He was born November 27, 1931 in Chicago to Josef and Elizabeth Kadubec Hroziencik, and married Normalee Boyer on August 17, 1952 in Galesburg. She survives.

Robert is also survived by his children, Rob (Nancy) Hroziencik of Oneida, Rhonda (Frank) Polite of Dunlap, and Randy (Deb) Hroziencik of Galesburg; his siblings, Betty Logsdon of Gerlaw, Patricia McKeown of Canton, and Ronald (Rosemary) of Hollywood, CA; six grandchildren, Kate (Mike) Hagedorn, Brandon (Katie) Polite, Kevin (Tara) Hroziencik, Kyle Polite, Chris (Nicole Olin) Hroziencik, and Heather (Anthony) Mahnesmith; as well as four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Alexa, Max, and Owen.

Rozie served his country with the United States Army as a cook from 1953 until 1955 in Germany. He will be remembered for his love of animals, especially dogs. He also enjoyed attending parties with his family and friends, and making sure all of the animals in the neighborhood were well fed. Rozie treated everybody the same, and he never met a stranger in his life.

A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 9 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home in Galesburg. Cremation has been accorded following the visitation, and a graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 11 at Knoxville City Cemetery in Knoxville. Pastor Scott Wilson will officiate. Memorials may be given to The American Parkinson Disease Association or The Veterans Association. Expressions of sympathy may be given to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
