Shirley Jean Johnson-Simpson

Shirley Jean Johnson-Simpson, born in St. Louis, Missouri on 27 July 1948 passed away June 1st at her residence in Spring, Texas at the age of 66.

Shirley graduated from Carl Sandburg and Robert Morris Colleges. She held several positions in both the service and banking industries before relocating to Spring, Texas where she co-owned M&J's Ice House with her husband. An avid supporter of military veterans, she was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and routinely supported children's and military organizations.

Preceded in death by her parents, Paul Lee and Dovie Jean (Sharpe) Johnson of Abingdon, Il., Shirley is survived by her husband Terry G. Simpson of Spring, TX, son Michael Brady of Springfield, Il, daughter CMSgt Nicole Johnson, United States Air Force, stationed in Washington, D.C., sisters (Carol) Sue Johnson-Stone of Burlington IA, Cherie Johnson-Swan of Conroe, TX, brothers Paul, Richard (Dewayne), and Danny Johnson of Abingdon, Il, and a large family of nieces and nephews.

A public celebration of her life will be held Saturday, 13 June at 1:00 pm at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, 206 North Washington Street, Abingdon, IL 61410. Following the service, lunch will be served by the ladies of the Church of God of the Prophecy at 207 N. Washington St, Abingdon, IL.
