Dave was born January 31, 1960 in Vicenza, Italy. He is survived by his parents Oscar Lee and Mary Lou (Shepherd) Riley both of Abingdon. He married Dodie Sue Watters on October 29, 1999 in Galesburg. She survives of Abingdon. Dave is also survived by one step son Ozzy Greene of Canton; one step daughter, Ashley Greene of Abingdon; one granddaughter, Kaelyn Paige Greene-Gerstsel; and two grandsons, Wyatt Keith Greene, and Ryker Gentry Greene. He was preceded in death by one sister, Syndy Lue Townsend and one brother, Norman Wayne Townsend.
After high school, Dave enlisted in the US Navy serving from 1987 to 1993. He spent the last 17 years working for Galesburg Electric, working for Craig Johnson, owner, Don Gillenwater, CEO, and Shannon Johnson. They were the best of friends, people, and company to work with. Thank you for the years. Dave was a family man, spending all his free time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Kaelyn who lived with them, she was the child he never had.
Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Private family services will be held at Rio Baptist Cemetery, Rio, IL. No public services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made in Dave’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
