Jerry L. Bailey, age 49, of Gladstone, Illinois, passed away at 3:22 am on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. He was born on August 15, 1965, in Burlington, Iowa the son of Raymond E. "Pete" and Paula Kay (Rhoades) Bailey. Jerry attended schools in the Gladstone School District. On September 20, 2003, he married Jo Adams at the South Henderson Church in Gladstone, Illinois and she survives. Jerry began work with Kurt McChesney as a farmhand and Don Zurmuehlen as a farmhand and electrician. He lastly worked for Stan Torrance Farms. Jerry enjoyed mushrooming, fishing, and storm chasing around the area. He loved to work and was always there to help someone who needed a hand. Jerry will be remembered as a loving Dad, Son, Husband, and Grandpa. He much enjoyed his time with the grandchildren..."but not for very long at one time." Jerry will be missed greatly by those lives he touched. He is survived by wife Jo of Gladstone; his parents, "Pete" and Paula; children, Bindi, Jenna (Zach), Nick (Ally), Brandon, Erin (Mitch); three brothers, Bob (Barb) Bailey, Mike (Debbie) Bailey, and Jay (Sherry) Bailey; one sister, Luann Walker; mother-in-law JoAnne Adams, and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by Aunts, Uncles, and numerous Nieces and Nephews. Jerry is preceded in death by his grandparents and father-in-law, Bob Adams.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 am on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. His family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00-7:00 at the funeral home. Cremation is being accorded. A memorial fund is being established for Jerry's family.
