Jimmy R. Johnson, 79, of
Monmouth, IL died at 1:40 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Monmouth Nursing
Home.
He was born on February 25, 1936
in Cave City, KY, the son of Harry R. and Irene (Norman) Johnson. Jimmy was raised and educated in Roseville,
IL, and graduated from Roseville High School in 1953. He served in the United
States Army from 1959-1961.
Jimmy married Mary Ruth Damewood
on February 27, 1955 at the Roseville Baptist Church, she survives.
Jimmy worked as the purchasing
and manufacturing manager for Borg Warner Automotive, he first worked in Dixon,
IL for 18 years, then in Blythville, AK, and finally in North Carolina,
retiring in 1998 after 28 years of service.
He was a member of Coldbrook
Christian Church, a lifetime member of Friendship Masonic Lodge # 7 AFAM in
Dixon, IL, Arch Masons of Illinois Nachusa Chapter #56, Dixon Commandery #21 Knights
Templar, and Dixon Council # 7. Jimmy
enjoyed playing golf, watching western movies, and playing cards.
Jimmy is survived by his wife
Mary Ruth Johnson of Monmouth, two brothers; Tom Johnson of Galesburg, IL,
Riley Johnson (Shirley) of Monmouth, one sister Joann Brown (Jack) of LaCanto,
FL, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Dorothy Johnson, and sister and
brother-in-law Dolores and George Randolph.
Memorial Services will be at
11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 15, 2015, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home
and Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation rites
have been accorded. Interment with
Military Honors will be in Warren County Memorial Park. .
Friends may call Thursday morning where his family will be present one hour
prior to the services. Memorials can be
