JUNE NELSON. HARTLEY



Mrs. June N. Hartley, 95, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 2:04 am Friday, December 18, 2015 in Bickford Cottage in Davenport, Iowa.

She was born June 26, 1920 in Galesburg the daughter of Frank W. and Alice Sollars Hopp Nelson. She married Donald R. Hartley on June 4, 1949 in Galesburg.

She is survived by her two daughters, Vicki H. Stegall of Bettendorf, Iowa and Michelle A. and Jim Davis of Davenport, Iowa; and her two grandchildren, Tennille and Scott Davis. She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Eugene S. and Leonard W. Nelson and sister Marjorie N. Powell.

June had worked as the secretary/treasurer for several schools including Moline High School, Churchill Jr. High and Galesburg High School for over 30 years, retiring in 1990. June also worked for Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel doing clerical work for over 15 years. June was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the church choir, session, women’s sewing group, and attended regional Presbytery meetings. She graduated from Galesburg High School and Browns Business College and was a lifetime member of the Alpha Iota Sorority. June enjoyed time with her family and best friends Jim and Merle Miller, traveling, attending Cubs games, golfing, watching sports and cooking. June was always able to provide a laugh with her entertaining stories about her life’s adventures.


Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Pastor Jordan Knight will officiate. Visitation will be 9:00-10:00 am Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to Multiple Sclerosis.
