He was born November 23, 1966 in Galesburg the son of A.C and Wanda Jean Mason Hurbert.
He
is survived by his mother, Wanda Hurbert of Galesburg; his significant
other, Rhonda Lucas of Galesburg; three daughters, Tieonika Davis of
Galesburg, Ashley Hoopes of Monmouth, Illinois and Lanette Hoopes
of Galesburg; three brothers, James E. “Ernie Goat” (Alice) Mason of
Galesburg, Aubery Wayne Hurbert of Conway, Arkansas and William Patrick
Hurbert of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in
death by his father, his sister, Arie Hurbert Turner, his brother,
Ronnie Hurbert, two grandchildren, Adohnas King Davis and Darion Joseph
Smith and his grandparents, Will and Ella Hurbert and Otis Georgia
Mason.
Damon
had attended Galesburg schools and Carl Sandburg College. He operated
his own detailing business for many years. He was a member of the
Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. He played on several pool leagues
in Galesburg. He enjoyed barbequing and watching the Dallas Cowboys,
San Antonio Spurs and St. Louis Cardinals.
Funeral
services are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, July 8, 2017 at
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Toby Carlos will
officiate. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am at the chapel. Cremation
will
follow services. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a
