David A. Skene

Mr. David A. Skene, 58, of Galesburg, Ill. died 4:20 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa.

He was born February 17, 1956 in Portland, Oregon to Alexander Skene. He married Linda Sysak in 2009 in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are two step daughters, Meriah (and Kris) Houser of Glendale, Ariz. and Leah Johnson of Peoria, Ill., a brother, Stephen Skene of Baltimore, Maryland, a sister, Nancy of Montana and five grandchildren, Trevor Hutchins, Cole Houser, Maddux Houser, Dominik Lozano and a granddaughter whom he was helping raise, Monika Jarvis. He is preceded in death by his parents.

David was a manager at Hammer’s General Feed Store, Galesburg for 20 years. He graduated from Metamora High School, Metamora, Ill. in 1974. He loved music, especially the Beatles and was a Stare Gate fan.

Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be under the direction of Rev. Stephen Descalzo and the family at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Hope Wesleyan Church, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
