Ethel Margaret Gillmor Bohan


Mrs. Ethel Margaret Gillmor Bohan, 99, of Galesburg died at 5:02 am Monday, November 17, 2014 at her home.She was born November 21, 1914 in Palmyra, Missouri the daughter of Isaac Fenton and Hattie M. Garner Gillmor. She married John Lynch Bohan, MD on June 20, 1942 in Champaign, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2000.She is survived by her children, John M. Bohan (Ann Bohan-deceased), Nancy E. Bohan of Galesburg, Ruth L. Bohan, PhD of St. Louis, Missouri, Timothy P. Bohan, PhD MD (Sarah Pollack, PhD) of Houston, Texas and Jane Bohan (Jean de Segonzac) of New York, New York; five grandchildren, Joan Bohan, Diana Bohan, Natalie de Segonzac, Russell Green, PhD and Justin Green, MD and eight great grandchildren. Ethel Margaret graduated from Galesburg High School in 1932 and Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa in 1938. Ethel Margaret taught art at Downers Grove Community High School in Downers Grove,Illinois from 1939 to 1942. She studied jewelry at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1940-42. Since 1976 her jewelry and art metalwork have been included in numerous juried and invitational exhibitions. These include The Alumni Show at Iowa State University, several GALEX exhibitions and group shows at the Galesburg Art Center. Ethel Margaretwon several awards for her art metalwork. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church. Pastor Mary Runge will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00-6:30 pm Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
