Helen
A. Clevenger, 89, formerly of Knoxville, was called Home at 3:25 a.m.
Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg.
She was born December 26, 1924 in Argonia, Kansas the
daughter of Fred and Anna (Stork) Fiene. She married Olan L. Clevenger
on January 30, 1946 in Wellington, Kansas. He preceded her in death
October 6, 2002.
She is survived by two sisters, Betty Ray of Rock
Hill, South Carolina and Marion Klapp of Galesburg; a brother, John
Fiene of Newton, Kansas and seven nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents
and a sister, Kathryn Smith, in 2008.
Helen was a clerk for Burlington Truck Lines for 12
years. She worked at Knoxville Grade School for eight years. She was of
the Methodist faith.
Helen’s exuberant spirit and joyful heart will mark
our many wonderful memories of her. She delighted in family gatherings
and playing cards with her circle of friends.
Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, October 31,
2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Graveside service will
follow at 10:15 a.m. at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jim Ecklund will
officiate. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Online
