Louise
Tucker, 95, of Knoxville, formerly of Galesburg, died at 1:05 a.m.
Sunday, December 14, 2014 in the Knox County Nursing Home.
She was
born April 23, 1919 in Galesburg the daughter of Harry W. and Ione
(Leitner) Rhodes. She married Lloyd L. Tucker on January 18, 1940 in
Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1984.
She is
survived by two daughters, Carolyn (and husband Bill McLaughlin)
Tucker of Savannah, Georgia and Joyce (and husband Bill) Allison of
Galesburg; six grandchildren, Reed ( and wife Katie) Allison, Libby
(and husband Rob) Derry, Andie (and Greg Leibach) Allision, Margit
McLaughlin, Max McLaughlin, and Cammie McLaughlin; and three great
grandchildren, Molly Allison, Tommy Allison, and Tucker Derry. In
addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an
infant daughter, an infant son, and a sister.
Louise was
a homemaker. She graduated from Gilson High School in 1937. She had
been a member of the Lioness Club and was a volunteer for Galesburg
Cottage Hospital. Louise formerly was a Girl Scout leader and 4-H
leader. She was a member of First Christian Church. Louise’s
greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral
service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014 at
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Greg Fitch will
officiate. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
Burial will be in Henderson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials
may be made to Knox County Humane Society. Online condolences may be
