Mary Louise Simmons

Mary Louise Simmons, 88, of Galesburg, died at 8:05 a.m. Sunday, December 14, 2014 in Heartland Health Care Center.

She was born May 18, 1926 in Galesburg the daughter of Archie and Lela Mary (Myers) Guenther. She married George Dale Simmons on June 30, 1951 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He preceded her in death October 28, 2003.

She is survived by a daughter, Lorie L. Simmons of Galesburg; two granddaughters, Nicole L. Simmons and Melissa R. Simmons, both of Galesburg; and four great grandchildren, Jaden M. Simmons, Mariono J. Hodge, Eliott C. Simmons, and Harlyn J. Stone. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary Louise graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1943 and from Knox College with the class of 1948. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Knox College 50 year club. Mary Louise worked in the purchasing department of OMC Gale Products for 20 years. She was a member of V.F.W. Post 2257 Ladies Auxiliary. She kept bingo records and worked bingo Saturdays at the V.F. W. for 25 years.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
