Marvin R. Lewis, 57, of Monmouth, passed away at 6:06 a.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, IA.
Marvin was born on October 8, 1957 in St. Peter, MN; the son
of Max and Belva Harris Lewis. Marvin
attended Warren High School.
Marvin married Cindy Lantz on September 15, 1976 in Monmouth
and she survives.
Marvin worked as a trailer mechanic all of his life. He first worked at Munson Transportation in
Monmouth and was currently working at Dohrn Transfer in Rock Island, IL. Marvin enjoyed building houses, and was an
avid Minnesota Vikings Fan.
Marvin is survived by his wife Cindy of Monmouth, one son
Josh (Heather) Lewis of Silvis, IL, one daughter Tanya (Josh) Johnson of
Monmouth, eight grandchildren; Brendan Lewis, Jackson Lewis, Kieryn Rockwell,
Tayler Rockwell, Brianna Pierce, Erin (Denver) Strange, Alex Fett, and Michael
Johnson, and great granddaughter Peighton Strange. Also surviving is four sisters; Eleanor
(Dennis) Ford of Modesto, CA, Evelyn (Don) Adams of Mankato, MN, Janet (John)
Foster of Galesburg, IL, and Lavina (Kenny) Smock of Ankeny, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and
one brother.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00-7:00
p.m., Saturday, December 20, 2014 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and
Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation rites
will be accorded following the visitation.
